A-Z Steps to Leadership

Ability
Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam) enjoining Al-ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden). And it is them who are the successful. [Ali Imran 3:104]

Calmness
The strong man is not the one who overcomes others by his strength, but the one who, though angry, controls himself. [Bukhari]

Dependability
Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allas has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants. And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed hours). These are indeed the inheritors. Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever. [Al-Mu'minun 23:8-11]

Fairness
Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up justice. [Al-Hadid 57:25]

Genuineness
A person is perfect in his religion (Islam) when he leaves alone that which does not concern him. [at-Tirmidhi]

Honesty
O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and be with those who are true (in words an deeds). [At-Taubah 9:119]

There are three signs of a hypocrite: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he does not keep it; when he is trusted, he betrays. [narrated by Abu Huraira]

Initiative
Every magnificent and important project not begun with the praise of Allah, remains defective. [abu Dawud]

Judgment
Whenever you judge between people, you should do so with fairness. [4:58]

Knowledge
And be not in haste (O Muhammad SAW) with the Quran before its revelation is completed to you, and say: "My Lord! Increase me in knowledge." [TaHa 20:114]

Modesty
Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. [4:36]

Nobility
O mankind! We have created you from a male and female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has at-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqun (pious).] Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. [Al-Hujuraat 49:13]

Responsibility
Each one of you is a Guardian and responsible for those of whom he is in charge. The Ruler is a Guardian and thus responsible for his subjects. A man is the Guardian of his family and is responsible for those under his care. In like manner, each one of you is a guardian and is responsible for what he is entrusted with. [Bukhari & Muslim]

Sacrifice
By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc. it means here Allah's Reward, i.e. Paradise), unless you spend (in Allah's Cause) of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allah knows it well. [Ali Imran 3:92]

Teamwork
And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Quran) and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allah's Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that by His Grace you became brethren (in Islamic Faith) and you were on the brink of a pit of Fore, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations. etc.) clear to you, that you may be guided. [Ali Imran 3:103]

Faithful believers are to each other as the bricks of a wall, supporting and reinforcing each other. So saying, the Prophet Muhammad clasped his hands by interlocking his fingers. [Bukhari]

Understanding
And this is a blessed Book (the Quran) which We have sent down, so follow it and fear Allah (i.e. do not disobey His Orders), that you may receive mercy (i.e. saved from the tornment of Hell) [Al-Anaam 6:155]

Versatility
When you see a person seeking an object earnestly, assist him to attain his ends. And never ask for a reward except that given by Allah. [hadith of ash-Shifa]

Zeal
When three people set out on a journey, they should appoint one of them as a leader. [abu Dawud]
